Paint Curing Heating Lights

High-wattage infrared heat lamps or quartz tube heaters used to provide focused, radiant heat in a workshop or garage space. They heat objects and people directly rather than the air.

How They Work

They emit infrared radiation (like the sun) that travels through the air and is absorbed by surfaces, the floor, tools, and the vehicle itself, which then radiate heat back, warming the space more efficiently than heating the air, especially in drafty or high-ceiling garages.

Key Uses in a Garage

• Spot Heating: Warming the immediate area where you’re working (e.g., under the car, at the workbench).
• Drying & Curing: Helping dry washed vehicles, speed up paint touch-ups, or cure adhesives/coatings.
• Cold-Weather Starts: Pre-warming an engine bay or components before repair work.
• Personal Comfort: Direct warmth in a focused zone without heating the whole garage.

Primary Benefits for Garages

• Instant Heat: No warm-up time.
• Energy Efficient for Local Heat: Less wasted energy than forced-air heating a large, uninsulated space.
• Quiet & Low Maintenance: No fans or moving parts.
• Works in Drafty Spaces: Effective even with doors opening occasionally.

Critical Safety & Usage Rules

• Mount Securely & High: Install firmly to the ceiling or a sturdy frame to prevent contact or knocks. Keep well away from flammable materials (rags, cardboard, fuel cans, vapors).
• Clearance is Crucial: Maintain manufacturer-specified distance from walls, storage, and especially the vehicle itself (fuel lines, plastic trim, wiring).
• Use Proper Fixtures & Wiring: Requires heavy-duty, heat-rated fixtures and correct gauge wiring installed to electrical code. Do not use standard light sockets.
• Moisture & Water Risk: Avoid use near wet floors or wash areas unless specifically rated for damp locations.
• Never Leave Unattended: Turn off when leaving the garage. Consider a timer or motion sensor.

Bottom Line

Heating lights offer a practical, on-demand heat solution for garages where full-space heating is inefficient. Ideal for spot heating a work area or aiding repairs and drying tasks. However, due to extreme surface temperatures, they demand strict safety precautions regarding mounting, clearance, and electrical setup to prevent fire risk in a workshop environment.
