Description

A heavy-duty hydraulic floor jack designed for lifting SUVs, light trucks, vans, and heavier industrial loads. The 5-ton (10,000 lb / 4,536 kg) rating makes it a versatile, high-capacity workhorse for commercial shops and serious DIYers.

How It Works
It uses a robust hydraulic ram, activated by a long pump handle, to lift a large, stable saddle. It rolls on wide wheels, allowing easy positioning under solid axles or reinforced frame points.

Key Design & Specs

Capacity: 5 Tons (10,000 lbs). Handles full-size pickups, large SUVs, and most light commercial vehicles with a significant safety margin.

Construction: Heavy-duty steel frame, wide stance for stability, large saddle pad, and often a multi-piston hydraulic pump for smooth lifting.

Lift Range: Typically offers a good combination of low starting height (to clear axles) and high maximum lift (often 20+ inches).

Weight & Build: Substantially built (often 80-120 lbs), designed for shop durability.

Primary Applications

Full-Size Truck & SUV Maintenance: Lifting axles or frames for tire, brake, and suspension work.

Commercial Vans & Light Duty Trucks.

Heavy Equipment Trailers & Agricultural Implements.

Industrial Tasks: Lifting machinery, motors, or heavy fabrication projects.

Critical Safety & Operating Rules

For Lifting ONLY, NOT for Support: NEVER get under a vehicle supported only by this jack. Immediately transfer the weight to 5T-rated jack stands or solid cribbing before any work underneath.

Lift on Solid Structure Only: Use only on the vehicle’s manufacturer-approved lift points—typically solid axles or reinforced sections of the frame rails. Never lift on the differential housing, suspension arms, or body panels.

Mandatory Solid & Level Surface: Use exclusively on clean, level, and solid concrete. Asphalt can deform under the intense point load.

Check Stability & Alignment: Center the saddle perfectly on the lift point. Pump slowly and watch for any shifting. If the load moves, lower it and reposition.

Chock Opposite Wheels: Always chock the wheels on the end of the vehicle not being lifted to prevent roll-away.

Inspect Before Use: Check for hydraulic leaks, inspect the frame and saddle for cracks, and ensure the release valve operates smoothly.

Operate with Control: Keep clear of the handle’s swing arc. Lower the load slowly and deliberately using the release valve.

Bottom Line
A 5-ton trolley jack is a powerful and essential tool for anyone servicing heavy vehicles or equipment. Its high capacity provides a safe margin for most light-duty industrial and automotive tasks. Safety depends entirely on using it strictly as a lifting device on proper points, on solid ground, and always following up with rated jack stands. It bridges the gap between standard car jacks and true industrial lifting equipment.
