Description

A heavy-duty, semi-automatic or fully-automatic machine designed to mount and demount large, stiff, and heavy truck, bus, agricultural, and OTR (Off-The-Road) tires onto their corresponding multi-piece or single-piece rims.

How It Works
The machine uses a combination of powerful, controlled mechanical force and specialized tooling to overcome the high bead strength of heavy tires. Key functions include:

Bead Breaking: A powerful vertical or horizontal arm with a blunt blade forcefully breaks the tire bead from the rim flange.

Bead Expansion/Lifting: Arms or rollers physically lift and expand the stiff tire bead over the rim’s edge using hydraulics or strong mechanics.

Table Rotation & Tooling: A motorized table spins the tire while guided tools work the bead on or off.

Key Design Features

High Torque & Force: Significantly more powerful than a standard passenger car tire changer.

Heavy-Duty Construction: Reinforced steel frame and arms to handle tires weighing hundreds of pounds.

Large Rim Capacity: Accommodates rim diameters from 17.5″ up to 63″ or more for large equipment.

Specialized Tool Heads: Bead breakers, duckheads, and mounting arms specifically shaped for truck tire profiles.

Operator Safety Features: Guarding, two-hand controls, and air-operated clamps.

Primary Applications

Commercial Truck & Bus Fleets: Servicing 10R22.5, 315/80R22.5, etc.

Agricultural & Forestry Equipment: Tractor, combine, and skidder tires.

Construction & Mining (OTR): Loader, dozer, and haul truck tires on smaller rims.

Heavy-Duty Trailer & RV Service.

Critical Safety & Operating Rules

Secure the Assembly: The wheel/tire assembly must be firmly clamped to the rotating table before any operation. A loose assembly can become a deadly projectile.

Use Correct Tooling & Settings: Adjust the machine’s arms and select the proper duckhead/roller for the exact tire size and rim type. Never use passenger car tooling.

Deflate Completely & De-bead First: Ensure the tire is fully deflated and the bead is completely broken from the rim on both sides before attempting demounting.

Lubricate Generously: Use tire mounting lubricant on both tire beads and rim edges to reduce friction and prevent bead damage.

Keep Hands Clear: Use the machine’s controls and tools. Never place hands or fingers between the tire bead and rim during rotation.

Inspect Tire & Rim: Check for severe rust, cracks, or lock ring damage on multi-piece rims before mounting. Multi-piece rim assemblies require specific, extreme caution.

Air Up in a Safety Cage: After mounting, inflate the tire to seat the bead inside a reinforced tire inflation safety cage. Heavy-duty tires store enormous explosive energy.

Bottom Line
A truck tire expanding machine is a specialized, high-power piece of commercial shop equipment. It is essential for safely servicing heavy-vehicle tires, a task that is physically impossible and extremely dangerous to perform manually. Operator training, strict adherence to safety procedures, and the use of a protective inflation cage are absolutely mandatory to prevent catastrophic injury or death.
